Preparing your device

This applies to users that are using devices such as an Amazon Fire device, Android TV box, etc.

The device must be allowed to side-load applications, this is disabled by default - if you already have experience you may skip this part and proceed with side-loading your preferred player application

For Amazon Fire devices
If you have a new Fire device or if your device was recently updated the Developer Options will be hidden and you will need to reveal the menu first
To do so click on MyFire TV, then select “About”. The first item listed will be the name of your device, I.E., Fire TV Stick 4K, click on it 7 times in rapid succession and you will see a countdown timer at the bottom telling you when the Develop Options menu will be revealed
After the seventh click the countdown message should say “No Need, You Are Already a Developer,” your Developer Options menu will be unlocked and you can go back and enable sideloading

1. Go into MyFire TV and click Developer options
2. Turn on Apps from Unknown Sources
3. Go back to the home screen.
4. Hover over the search icon and type in Downloader, then click on it and you should see the the Downloader App by AFTVnews.
5. Click on the Downloader App then click on download and it will be installed.
6. Click the open button and you will be asked to “Allow Downloader to access photos, media and files on your device” You must allow this otherwise the process will not work.

For Android devices
Your Android device interface may vary from device to device (different manufacturers have different 'favors' of how they display their user interface) but the general steps will remain the same or be near similar

1. Navigate to Setting > Security
2. Check the option Unknown sources
3. Select OK on the prompt message
4. Select Trust/Allow

If you are not seeing these options under your Android device, we recommend performing a quick Google search with your specific device and the terms 'allowing apps from unknown sources'

After having prepared your device for the installing of a player app, you may follow any of our guides for your preferred player app >>Return to setup guides<<
